Library Card
To apply for a library card you must show current identification to the staff at the
Circulation Desk and complete a brief application. Students and children under 18 years of
age must have the application signed by a parent or guardian. (library

Adult Services
The library offers a large selection of fiction, non-fiction, reference books,
audiotapes, large print books, videos, periodicals and both music and story CDs.
Free Internet access if available and the use of Microsoft word on
our computers
.
Interlibrary loans are available and reserves can be put on books and material not on the
shelves. EBSCO magazine search, Encarata Encyclopedia and Streets and Trips are programs
available on our computers. Renewals can be done at the library or from home by calling
(675-1182).

Young Adult Books
A selection of paperbacks, hardcover fiction, science fiction,
college and career guides, all geared toward young adults, are
located in the main reading area of the library. Also available
are summer book discussion groups! |
Children's
Services
Picture and board books, beginning readers for preschool through grade three,
childrens reference books, cassettes, fiction for elementary and middle school,
non-fiction, biographies, holiday books, and computers are located in the Childrens
Wing. Infant, toddler, and preschool story times are scheduled year-round. Special programs are done throughout the year with
guest speakers and presenters and a Summer Reading Club is done each summer for toddlers
and elementary age children. |

Memorial or Honor Books
To honor a cherished memory or celebrate a special event in someones life we accept
gifts in their name to the library. Memorial books, magazines or other reading items will
be marked with a special bookplate, and may be donated in honor of a relative or friend. A minimum of $25.00 is recommended.
Acknowledgement of gifts will be sent to the donors and a note will also be sent to the
person, family or organization being honored.
Endowment Gifts
Gifts to the Back Mountain Memorial Library are tax deductible. If you wish to provide a gift to the library
through your will, contact your attorney about the best way this can be arranged.
Community Room
Our community room is available for use by non-profit and civic groups throughout the Back
Mountain. The fee is $25.00 during library hours and an additional $10.00 an hour for
after hour use.
Volunteers
Volunteers have played an vital role in the development of the library and they continue to provide the library with
invaluable contributions of time and service. Volunteers
help with shelving books, filing, preparing bulk mailings and assisting at story hours,
special programs, fund raising events, the Friends Group, bookstore and the auction. Contact the library to become a volunteer.
Bookshop
The Slightly Read Bookshop offers used books at prices readers love in most
genres of fiction, nonfiction, and children's, as well as audio books and
puzzles. The bookshop is located beneath the Children's Wing with
handicap accessibility and ample parking at the rear of the library. (Bookshop)
Auction
Each year the library holds a four day, Antique and New Goods auction which provides the
library with income for its operating budget.

is also a children's auction with games, puzzles and toys available to young bidders. The local Boy Scout Troop 451
conducts the childrens auction. |
